Rooting: Drawing & Digital Collage
I begin with pencil and paper. Meditative, airy gestures make marks and smudges. Alternating light and heavy pressure. My eyes study the complex forms and shadows. I squint and relax my gaze. Playing with seeing and not seeing.
The inspirations are coming from walking in a very small fraction of the vast temperate rain forests on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. The results are pencil drawings that then become digitally composited photo collage.
